Zanshin Personal Safety provides training in self defence techniques and concepts that equip you to protect yourself and those you care about in our increasingly violent society.
Zanshin Personal Safety offers techniques in all aspect of Self Protection including:
· Awareness, Avoidance, Pre-emption and Escape Strategies
· Principles and concepts of personal safety and awareness
· Conflict and confrontation management skills
· Understanding and controlling fear in high-stress situations, including the adrenal dump
· Personal space management using the unique “Fence” concepts
· Physical techniques in all fighting ranges
The most important area of Personal Safety is how to protect our inner-self from our doubts, insecurities and fears.
As humans we are our own worst enemies. Zanshin Personal Safety training teaches us to better understand ourselves and by doing so, offers us the tools to help us grow and achieve our goals.

The training includes all ranges of potential conflict management with techniques from several martial arts including Boxing, Karate, Muay Thai, Aikido, Ju Jitsu, and Judo.
More important, though than the techniques are the underlying concepts and principles which are applicable to all the situations commonly referred to as self defence.
All principles, concepts and techniques have been tried and tested in high-pressure, real environments and situations.
Zanshin Personal Safety does not teach anything that is not proven to be effective in real world self defence, conflict avoidance and resolution.
Above all, Zanshin Personal Safety is fun and very rewarding.
Course Content
These sessions teach the need for awareness of one’s safety at all times and the precautions and strategies one can take to minimise and/or avoid potentially dangerous and violent situations.
The benefits of the training and instruction include improved self esteem and confidence, self assurance and a feeling of empowerment.
Learning outcomes: The participants will be able to:
· understand the concept of personal, situational and environmental awareness and be able to undertake precautions to maximise personal safety
· identify potentially problematic situations
· understand the principles and actions required to prevent or neutralize a possibly violent situation.
Session content:
· the theory of self defence
· prevention and awareness
· guidelines for using force
· self defence and the law
· being assertive and confident
· self defence techniques
Activity:
· basic and effective impact techniques
· escapes from restraining holds
· question, discussion and feedback
Assessment:
To assess the participants’ understanding, the following may be used:
· questions
· practical demonstrations
· role plays
Duration:
Sessions run for one hour; longer sessions available on request.
Evaluation:
Feedback sheet completed at the conclusion of each session.
Each session is also evaluated on the basis of the learning outcomes achieved and participants’ enjoyment.
